The first Sacred Heart Church was built in Hawi in 1905 by Father Aloysius Borghouts, SS.CC.; this church was later moved to Halawa. The second and present structure was built by Father Ludger Appleman, SS.CC., in 1925.

We, the Sacred Heart Parish Family, with the help of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, pledge to share with others what God has given to us. We are called by God the Father from many cultures and nations to unity in the body of Christ. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we are sent to serve our community with the talents and resources of our church.
